Approach
People I have met throughout my wanderings often struck me with their relationship to their beliefs and traditions, and to the rituals which shape their days and entire lives.
Photography allows me to enter the intimacy of these habits which are different from my day-to-day life.
I like to question topics likes rites, beliefs, lonelyness or community. My work also focuses on geometry, echoes, and the passing of time.
I favor film whenever possible, particularly in black & white, to obtain appropriate grain and sufficient black depth.
I appreciate the artisanal process of film photography, after the shot: manual cropping and makeup in the laboratory, but also the pleasure of baryta paper, its longevity and its fibrous thickness.
I also use a fixed focal length (no zoom) to get as close as possible to the subjects and create a connection through photography. It allows a gain in light and precision.
